IL-WIRT QADDISIN – New Publication by the Kerŷgma Movement
The Kerŷgma Movement has just published the book Il-Wirt tal-Qaddisin (The Legacy of Saints). This book includes a priceless collection of stories which not only fill you with joy but also shows the extent of what can be achieved when man is united with God. We confess in the Creed: the Communion of Saints. What is really the Communion of Saints? It is the communion that stems from faith and unites together those who, by virtue of the Baptism, belong to Christ. It is a spiritual unity – were we are all united! – a unity which does not come to an end through death, but continues in the afterlife. In fact, there always remains a link between those of us who remain on in this world, and those who have crossed over the threshold of death. We, down here on earth, together with those who have gone to eternity, form one big family. This is the purpose of Il-Wirt tal-Qaddisin. It does not only include a historical and narrative value, but every single day, builds a bridge with the Lord, based on the models of those lives that lived to follow Jesus.
Pope Francis on the 1st November 2014 reiterated that: “This marvellous community, this wonderful combination between heaven and earth, consolidates itself at a high and more intense level in the Liturgy, and above all, in the celebration of the Eucharist that expresses and gives rise to the deeper unity between all the members of the Church. In the Eucharist, in fact, we encounter Jesus alive and all powerful, and through Him we enter into communion with our brothers and sisters in faith: with those with whom we still live together on this earth and also with the others who have left before us to another life, the everlasting life. This truth fills us with joy: how wonderful it is to have so many brethren in faith to walk with us, support us through their help and walk together with us on the same path to heaven. It is so consoling to know that there are other brethren who are already in heaven, who are waiting for us and who pray for us so that we can contemplate for eternity the glorious and merciful face of the Father.
In the great communion of saints, God wanted to reserve the primary place for the Mother of Jesus. Mary is at the centre of the Communion of Saints and is the one who overlooks the link between the Universal Church with Christ, and family ties. She is the Mother, our Mother, our Mother. She is the best guide for whoever wants to follow Jesus in the path of the Gospel, because she was the first disciple. She is the ever-caring and attentive mother to whom we should disclose our every desire and difficulty.”
The book Il-Wirt tal-Qaddisnin contains 524 pages, is hardbound and includes a page marker. It is a book that recounts in detail the life of the saints for each day and includes quotations from the same saints. The book is being sold at a price of €20 from main libraries. The book is a Kerŷgma Movement publication.
